At NUMI, design is a quiet act of care. In partnership with Mill’s Kitchen, we’ve reimagined the ICU Staff Room at Royal Melbourne Hospital — not simply as a breakroom, but as a restorative sanctuary for over 500 frontline workers.

This initiative is woven into a legacy of purpose, where more than $500,000 has been raised since 2012 in support of healthcare heroes. Thoughtfully curated materials, comforting textures, and serene design interventions offer space to exhale — proving that when care informs every detail, design becomes a powerful act of healing.

More than just aesthetics, this space fosters resilience, promotes wellbeing, and acknowledges the emotional toll carried by those who care for others. It’s a reminder that empathy can be built into the very architecture of recovery.
